The best food truck in Atlanta also has the best Cuban sandwich in Atlanta (possibly in the world) – Buena Gente. After our favorite Cuban spot, Havana, went under new ownership over on Buford Highway, we’d been searching for a place to replace our favorite pressed sandwich. Sean found this spot during a food truck day in Midtown and then introduced me. It was love at first bite – and it doesn’t end with the sandwich.
The charming little food truck is technically a bakery – so don’t skip on croquetas, empanadas, etc.
And don’t for get the cafe! Cuban coffee, mmm.
Such choices, how does one choose? Let me help!
Order the Cuban or the Medianoche – they alternate which one is on offer. Either one will be delicious as they marinate their pork in mojo marinade giving it a juicy, salty, citrusy flavor that pairs perfectly with crispy bread, gooey cheese and crunchy pickles.
Even though the sandwich will probably be enough food for one person (especially with the plantain chips), you must also order the Guava Pastelito. Flaky, warm pastry filled with a homemade guava sauce. Oh.My.God! This is seriously to-die-for! Don’t skip it. Pairs well with a cortadito – a sweet coffee with milk.
Look at the delicious sammie!
Guava Pastelito.
Cuban sandwich, guava pastelito, cortadito. Perfection.
