In Japan, restaurants serve one style of food. There are sushi restaurants of course but also restaurants for ramen, tempura, soba, izakaya…you get the idea. In the U.S., it’s a bit different although I notice that most Japanese restaurants stick to one or two things as their main focus even if they have other dishes. Sushi Mito is different in that it has a huge menu filled with all types of Japanese delights. I discovered this place near Peachtree Corners during my lunch break at work a couple of years ago so this is not a “new bite” for me but it was for Sean and Harrison.
The menu is HUGE. It takes a decent amount of time to go through it and plan what to eat so keep that in mind or review online ahead of time. After ordering, we were brought miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. Yum!
Mixed tempura – shrimp, zucchini, sweet potato, broccoli. Yakitori sampler. Yakitori are grilled meats on skewers and very delicious. This plate had accompaniments of rice, egg, steamed shellfish, and pickled cabbage and seaweed.
One of our favorite food experiences in Japan was soba – the dish we had in Osaka was my top dish of 2017. So we were thrilled to see soba on the menu at Sushi Mito. It was a different experience but still very yummy with perfectly cooked soba noodles and a light yet flavorful broth.
Scallop Dynamite almost seemed like a French dish – it was baked with a rich sauce and wasn’t my favorite but was interesting to try.
Harrison loved his miso soup, soba, tempura and yakitori. This kid really enjoys Japanese food which makes things like this fun even at his young age!
If you like Japanese food and are in the Atlanta area I recommend Sushi Mito. It’s a great restaurant with a true Japanese vibe and wide variety of dishes.
