…For these delicious dishes at some of my favorite local Atlanta restaurants. I’m not a “foodie” but I love trying new foods and restaurants. Over the past 4.5 years I’ve lived in Atlanta I’ve had some bad, good and great meals. I decided I wanted to share the ten meals/dishes/treats that I crave on a regular basis, with all of you. Enjoy!
Chef Liu (Buford Highway): Leek pies, soup dumplings, pan fried pork buns, and snow pea tip greens
All I can say is…if you haven’t been, go! Now!
Lunacy Black Market (Downtown): Cabbage salad with gorgonzola, walnuts, mint, and olive oil
I have dreams about this salad and crave it on a regular basis. It has the right amount of crunch and creaminess, with a bit of freshness coming from the mint.
Dua Vietnamese (Downtown): Spicy Pho
Not a common spot for those who don’t often venture downtown, but for those of who work here this place cannot be beat for lunch. Try the Bun Thit Nuong or the Spicy Pho.
Bhojanic (Decatur): Thalis with Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer
In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with anything here. The Chicken Tikka Masala is outstanding – creamy, spicy and tangy. The Chicken 65 is also good, and I generally get the lentils and palak paneer for veggies. Try the lychee martini and have the Indian donuts for dessert.
Bone Garden Cantina (Westside): Al Pastor tacos
My favorite Al Pastor tacos in the city – these are flavorful with plenty of pineapple taste and crunchy cabbage and onions. Bone Garden also has the best queso in Atlanta (IMO).
Ecco (Midtown): Fried goat cheese with honey and black pepper
Great atmosphere, fantastic wine list and a delicious, rotating menu of food complimented by fresh ingredients grown right on the roof of the building. I love this place – and I love that the Fried Goat Cheese and Olive Oil Ice Cream continue to stay on the menu!
Abbattoir (Westside): Korean sticky fries
Honestly, I’m not even sure the restaurant still has these, but they were oh-so-good. Best described as a modern and upscale “guilty pleasure” for food.
Mali Thai restaurant (Virginia Highland): Vegetable Thom Kha soup
This Thai fusion restaurant in the Highlands has a great menu and some solid curries. I really love this soup and the fact that they don’t skimp on the vegetables.
Antico (Westside): Any pizza. YUM!
It’s loud in here, and you may have to wait but it’s worth it. I’ve had many different pizzas and all are yummy. The San Giarno is a standout. Plus, this place is BYOB – how much better can it get?
CamiCakes (Multiple Locations): Best cupcakes in Atlanta!
Well, the best after mine…I get these when I don’t feel like baking my own! The cake is fluffy and moist and the cream cheese frosting is perfectly whipped. I think my favorites are lemon, the Elvis, Mint Chocolate, Strawberry, Peanut Butter Chocolate….um, ok I love all of them. 🙂
All of the above restaurants are local – please support them and other local business whenever possible, and let me know some of your favorite spots.
