Another fantastic recipe found on Pinterest, I made these Sriracha Turkey Meatballs for the Thanksgiving potluck at my office. I think they were the first dish to be completely gone – wow! Sriracha is definitely a popular food condiment here, and I think it added to the appeal for my coworkers. 😉 Either way, these were a crowd-pleaser and would be great for any upcoming holiday parties.
Yes, I tweaked it to make it my own – how did you ever guess?!?
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/3 cup dry plain bread crumbs
- 1/2 sweet onion, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3-4 1×1-inch slices of ginger (I honestly just pulled four slices out of the jar)
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons Siriacha (If you like heat or simply love Siriacha, use another tbsp)
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons sunflower oil
Step one: put the ginger, garlic, a few slices of sweet onion and the green onions into the food processor and puree. Add to a large mixing bowl.
Step two: Add the rest of the sweet onion to food processor and mince, do not puree. Add to the large mixing bowl.
Step three: Add the ground turkey, egg, sesame seeds, sriracha, salt, red pepper flakes and bread crumbs into the bowl with the onion mix. Combine together with your hands (this gets messy – which is why I don’t have pictures of these next few steps).
Step four: Heat sunflower oil in a large skillet on medium heat
Step five: Roll mixture into balls the size of ping pong balls and add to skillet (this recipe should make about 25-30). Brown the meatballs, about 8-10 minutes. Turn them to avoid burning.
Step six: Once the meatballs are browned, place them on a baking tray and bake in the oven for about 15 minutes more, or until completely cooked through.
You can serve these immediately with more Sriracha sauce or put them over a nice Asian cabbage slaw for a pretty presentation. Mine went in the crockpot and I drizzled more Sriracha on the meatballs just before serving them the following day at the potluck. De-lish!
