I had heard the saying that once a person has children, time really accelerates and as Harrison turns three years old, I am finding that to be accurate. I can’t believe my baby boy is already three. He is an absolute joy and the light of our lives. We love being around his funny, curious, friendly and silly personality and watching him explore the world around him. I’ve captured highlights from his birthday party as well as the past six months from my last update when he turned 2 and a half.
Harrison’s Third Birthday Party
His birthday party was attended by family and friends who all love him and that we’re so lucky to have in our lives.
Quick facts about Harrison at three years old:
Loves: Trains, buses, helicopters, construction equipment, his kitchen and all the accompanying accessories like ice cream, cupcakes, whisk, tongs, wooden fruit and citrus zester. Still loves turtles, his dad’s drone, anything to do with water (pool, water table, splash pad, bathtub), his sisters Stella and Peggy, being chased around the house, eating (current faves are eggs, popsicles (trafficles), blackberries, sweet and sour pork, couscous, my macaroni and cheese, and raisins). Has become more interested in music – exploring daddy’s guitar and mommy’s clarinet. He got a keyboard, guitar and recorder for his birthday.
Does not love: Taking a nap every day, leaving the pool or bathtub, not having his Marta bus with him, carrots, being told “no,” having to go to sleep when he’s not tired (said with dropping eyes). But overall, there’s not very much this kid doesn’t like. He’s a happy guy.
MARCH 2021
We came out of a winter that was cold and felt like a period of hibernation as we didn’t do much until the end of the month with a trip to Laguna Beach, Florida with Steve and Amelia. Harrison loves to travel and had a blast playing with Amelia in our Airbnb. He’s still talking more and more, and putting thoughts together out loud. He also loves to sing.
APRIL 2021
April was our trip to Charleston to see our friends and Harrison was so good. He’s so calm and open to whatever it is that we do; he truly takes it all in. Bedtime is so fun with three stories and three songs – he really knows some of the stories and can read along.
MAY 2021
Harrison was the sweetest boy on Mother’s Day. His hugs are getting to be more like real hugs and he’s much more likely now to lay his head on our shoulders for a little snuggle. He never really did much of that before. He loved being with Grandma, Grandpa, Nana and JJ in Savannah again this year, and swimming in cold streams up in the mountains in Helen, Georgia. He loves the water more than ever.
JUNE 202
This was a busy month for Harrison – his Aunt Erin came to visit and took him for his first visit to the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. He loved exploring all the sensory ares and using his imagination – but most of all, he loved being with his Aunt Erin. 🙂 Grandma, Grandpa and Mumu came for a quick stop on their way back to the Outer Banks from Florida and we got a seat for Harrison on the bicycle so he and Daddy – or sometimes Pablo – have been taking him for rides. Hoping this encourages him to want to ride his own little bike.
I also noticed his language skills and vocabulary explode over the course of the month. Also improved on his ability to explain what he was doing or seeing.
JULY 2021
Spent two weeks in the Outer Banks where Harrison officially became a fish. I brought him a vest-style lifejacket (rather than the wings) and his excitement was apparent. He loved the freedom to move his arms and have more contol of his body in the water. It was amazing to see him grow in his skills in such a short time. He was practicing going under and swimming between two adults without his lifejacket in just a few days.
AUGUST 2021
LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL BOY! He is spectacular. He is so loved. And so smart.
We went to the mountains and Brevard this month, as well as visited our friends Lindsey, Dan and Adeline in SC where Harrison had his FIRST boat ride, FIRST tube ride, and FIRST time swimming in a lake. He got to explore the water a different day when Sean and Pablo took him to the aquarium.
EARLY SEPTEMBER 2021
Museums, a first ride on the Marta train, and lots of fun with friends has us celebrating the end of a beautiful summer and start of what will surely be a lovely fall.
This age has been magical. I am thankful.
