We had an epic birthday weekend for the bf, which all started with some gourmet chocolate chunk cookies I baked him. I also got him a new Capsule wallet and some sweet Bluetooth headphones. It was his first time celebrating his birthday with me, and I wanted it to be special.
For dinner, I planned a surprise meal at someplace we’d both heard a lot about but had never been before. And it was absolutely awesome.
Hayakawa is, according to the bf, the best sushi in Atlanta. He was a very happy man with his Chirashi bowl, complete with uni.
Octopus, salmon, various kinds of tuna, fresh shrimp, egg, uni, scallop, eel, mackerel and red snapper made up this amazing chirashi bowl.
Salmon torch roll – yum-o!
For the weekend, we went up to Lake Hartwell with a bunch of his other friends for what they call “Lake Beer Day.” They stay at friend’s house up there, swim, go out on the boat, play games, and drink and share various unique and rare beers.
We drank a lot of beer – some of it was delicious, and some of it wasn’t, but all of it was fun!
This was the wall of beer that we had for drinking outside of the tastings – it was an insane amount!
In addition to the beer, the lake itself was memorable. The water was warm, the scenery was lovely, and it was very relaxing. One night, the group shot off fireworks which was amazing to watch over the water. The bf and I were sad to leave come Sunday afternoon.
