After the crazy-busy holiday season, I needed some time to rest and relax – which I did in abundance in January. By the beginning of the February, I was ready for more action and I received it in the form of a long weekend visit from Lindsey and Adeline.
We had talked about the visit happening the first weekend of February, but given the horrific weather and traffic events it ended up being great that we decided on the next weekend. The weather was perfect, we got to do a lot of fun things and they headed off before the next storm rolled into town.
Lindsey and Adeline arrived on Friday afternoon and we all hung out for awhile before heading down to Buckhead to meet Sean for dinner at Amura. We feasted on sushi and introduced Lindsey to our favorite Rolls Royce roll. Adeline loved the bright lights and decor of the restaurant and was very well-behaved after such a long car ride! Lindsey, on the other hand, was being a creepy photo-bomber. 😉
On Saturday, I made us a yummy bacon and goat cheese quiche, we went out for a walk and I discovered Sean having a snuggle fest with the cutest girls in the house.
Lindsey, Addie and I went to downtown Decatur to meet with Cherish for lunch at Chai Pani. We had a lovely ladies lunch at this Indian street food joint and tasted kale pakoras, vegetable uttapam, fried okra and green mango chaat. De-lish!
I was thrilled beyond belief to be able to spend the day with my two best friends. Yay!! 🙂
Addie was a trooper as we trekked through Decatur and wandered into cute stores (Heliotrope, Blue Moon) boutiques and wine tastings (Sherlock’s Wine Merchant). She took a nice long nap on the drive home.
Addie’s nap continued on after we got home, which was great because Lindsey and I got to work together to get ready for the little party Sean and I were having. We had wanted some of our friends to meet Lindsey while she was in town so we had a small group over for a taco bar, drinks and laughs.
It was great to catch up with friends we hadn’t seen in awhile. (Yes, Stella is wearing the dress her grandparents got her for Christmas – she had to dress up for the party! 😉 )
On Sunday, Sean made us one of his specialty breakfast dishes: french toast made with challah bread, dipped in batter with orange zest, topped with berry compote and fresh cardamom whipped cream. Amazing.
We went for another walk, then hung around the house and played with the baby and the pups. Stella went into hiding behind a stack of pillows at one point to try to get a break from all the action.
Lindsey created some custom valances for the two guest rooms and we got those hung up. I’m so pleased with how they came out – they make the rooms look so finished. She also repainted the trim around our beautiful garden window – and did it free-hand. I was impressed at her skills. I know how talented she is, but seeing her in action is amazing. She also repurposed a curtain rod and decorative scarf that I’d had sitting in a box from my move into a beautiful window treatment in the dining room. I love it all!
Katherine Minerva joined us for dinner. She couldn’t resist my homemade turkey and kale enchiladas. Om nom nom!
I took Monday off of work to not only spend with Lindsey and Addie but also to try on wedding dresses! I was so pumped to be able to go with Lindsey and Wedding Angels bridal boutique in Roswell was a great place for my first experience.
Addie was very interested in the wedding dresses and she seemed to like a couple of the ones I tried on more than others. She has good taste! 🙂
After the wedding dress extravaganza and a stop by Ale Yeah! to pick up some Monday Night Brewing Fu Manbrew for Lindsey, we wandered around historic downtown Roswell. We ended up at Roswell Provisions where we enjoyed some hot beverages and a long, leisurely chat in the comfy window seat.
We picked up the always delicious Antico pizza for dinner, so Lindsey got to try another Atlanta staple. After dinner, Sean put on some Elton John and we danced with the baby and the dogs to the classic tunes.
It was such a fun weekend and even though Tuesday morning was a flurry of activity and stress to beat the oncoming weather, I was immediately sad to see them go and have an empty house again. As always, I look forward to the next visit!!
