Last week, we had some pretty epic weather here in Atlanta – a snow/sleet/ice/rain storm that went on for about 2 days. The city and state, wanting to avoid another transportation meltdown like the one that occurred two weeks earlier, took preventative measures. That translated to three work-from-home days for me and Sean.
Contrary to popular belief, work-from-home days are not vacation days – we still work and are busy with meetings, calls, reports, emails, etc. However, it’s nice to not have to commute, be able to eat lunch at home, throw in some laundry and get some snuggles from the pups. It’s also nice to be able to enjoy all the beauty that comes with a few snowy days…
We woke up to a stunning winter wonderland – the snow was so beautiful on all the branches and the light coating of ice made everything shine and sparkle.
I whipped up some pumpkin donuts with chocolate frosting for breakfast – a special treat for a special day.
Sean and Chelsea played outside for a while (so cute!).
Stella came to door shivering after one round in the snow, so I put her in her pink plaid coat. She’s thrilled to be wearing it, can’t you tell? 🙂
I needed to use up the pumpkin puree I had leftover from the donuts so I made some pumpkin zucchini bread. Yes, the house smelled amazing all day long.
My car had lots of snow and ice on it for most of the day – reminded me of being back in Ohio! I hear so many Southerners wishing for cold weather and snow. I hate to break to them, but scraping ice and snow off of your car in frigid temperatures, sometimes several times in one day, is NOT enjoyable.
We had lots of Mexican food left over from a party we hosted before the storm. I got creative and mixed it up by making quesadillas one night to give us a break from tacos.
And that was pretty much how the snow storm went for us – working remotely, hanging out with the pups, and eating well. Not too bad at all!
