We celebrated our anniversary a little early (September 5th, as opposed to the 12th) and took advantage of the long Labor Day weekend to head back to Savannah. We arrived Friday night in time for a drink at The Distillery. The view from our hotel suite the next morning was fabulous and the sunny skies were all the motivation we needed to get to the beach!
We spent the day on Tybee North Beach, in the same spot where got married last year. It was awesome.
Our hotel had a nice pool that we had to check. At least until the rain came.
After a little rest and a shower back at the room while waiting out the rainstorm, we headed out for the evening with our first stop at Circa 1875 Gastropub, a wonderful little Parisian-style bar in the historic district. It’s one of our favorite places for a drink and nice ambiance in Savannah.
Next up was cocktails at Perch and dinner at Local11Ten – more reliving of our wedding day. The weather had cleared up but the threat of rain seemed to keep everyone away from the lovely rooftop of Perch – so we had the place to ourselves for a bit!
Downstairs, we were greeted with complimentary champagne at our table and had an incredible meal and service.
Savannah Rum Runners, our wedding cake bakery, gave us a mini cake for free as a 1st anniversary gift and the staff at Local11Ten served it to us after our dinner there.
And Sean got me on the nose with frosting. 😉
As if the day hadn’t been romantic enough, we took a stroll through Forsyth Park after dinner. It was a lovely end to an incredible day full of memories, old and new.
Sunday started off with a walk Soho South Cafe for brunch and then a bit of shopping. The rain came down in buckets while we were out and about (in the car, thankfully) but we were able to duck into a great record store in the Starland District before heading back to the hotel for leftover coconut cake and some bubbly.
I know this looks like something I would do, but I swear it was all Sean.
Our hotel was steps away from the river, so we walked along River Street, took in the sights and popped into a few shops.
And as always seems to happen on our Savannah visits, we made our way up to the rooftop of the Bohemian Hotel for the views of the river, the bridge, the ships and the sunsets.
A quick stop at Moon River Brewing Company and then we were off to dinner at The Grey – a lively spot with beautiful and nostalgic decor. The pork entree with Carolina rice was amazing.
Sunday turned out to be a bit dreary and cool. We had an early lunch at Tequila’s Town – always a great choice – and then headed home to our girls. I know I always say this, but it’s because it’s true – I did not want to leave Savannah and can’t wait for our next visit!
