New Bites: Community Q BBQ

IMG_6174

I’d heard the horror stories about this place running out of food. I then experienced it for myself and cursed their clearly flawed business model. But at the end of the day, the food at Community Q is too damn delicious to ignore. So I go during the week or at lunch on the weekends to ensure I can get my fix of the most fabulous pulled chicken one could ever hope to eat.

Community Q is in the plaza where my beloved Bhojanic used to be in Decatur and has a parking lot that can only be described as a madhouse. IMG_6180

It’s QSR-style so order at the counter, pick up some rubs or sauces and then take a seat until your food is ready.IMG_6167IMG_6168IMG_6169IMG_6170IMG_6172

In addition to the perfect pulled chicken, their macaroni and cheese is one of the top 3 I’ve ever had out at a restaurant (sorry, mine is #1 – it’s not bragging if you can back it up). Baked beans are good, coleslaw is yummy and the smoke sweet potatoes and kale are great if you want something a bit different.IMG_6173

Sean usually gets the beef brisket and loves it. This is the sandwich with two sides and he had enough to take home for another small lunch!IMG_6175

Sean’s mom got the 1/2 chicken and said it was also great.IMG_6179

I don’t usually like restaurants that are snooty – and considering this place still won’t make more food on weekends to meet demand, I’ll consider that pretty snooty – and refuse to support them but the food is so good that I make an exception. Not often and usually only when we have a guest in town, but I do still go. If I can do it, so can you. And if you love BBQ, you must.
