We had an extended layover in Seattle on our way up to Fairbanks, Alaska and decided to take full advantage of it. We rented a car and headed out to see some sights. We couldn’t have picked a more beautiful day – sunny and warm at 85 degrees! Continue reading

The Best Foods I Ate in Cambodia
We spent December 21st to December 27th in Cambodia. We crossed from Thailand at Poi Pet and continued on a dusty, two-lane road to Siem Reap. The city was lovely, the people were friendly, the mornings were cool and the food was good and diverse. With Angkor Wat 10 minutes away, it’s a city not to be missed.
We also stayed with a family in a small village between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh for one day and one night. Our two days in Phnom Penh were hot and filled with activities. We did a lot in a short amount of time. We ate a lot, too. The food was different from both Thailand and Vietnam and I noticed there appeared to be less diversity in the cuisine – there were a few traditional dishes repeated on every menu. That said, we were able to try some wonderful street food and some innovative variations. Here are the best things I ate in Cambodia: Continue reading
Fun in Florida with Family and Friends
I can’t resist alliteration. 😉
That said, we did have a great time with our family and friends over Memorial Day weekend. We drove down Friday afternoon and stayed with Sean’s dad and stepmom. We had sushi for dinner and played cards. It was a nice event of catching up and celebrating the closing of our new house!
The next morning we headed to my grandparent’s house after a yummy breakfast of homemade bagels with lox and cream cheese. Continue reading
The Best Foods I Ate in Bangkok
I know it’s been a long time since my last post – almost two months – but I’m ready to get back to a more regular posting schedule. We’ve been incredibly busy with the sale of our current home, buying a new home, traveling, and planning for the move.
However, I still think of our Southeast Asia honeymoon frequently and have so much more I want to share. Being the foodies that we are, we went on a nighttime food tour while we were in Bangkok and it was a great way to experience a bit of the city during our very short visit there. We had a funny, lively and charming guide who was passionate about food and excited to share traditional Thai dishes with our group. The cool tuk-tuks that drove us from place to place and by popular sights added a nice touch of culture to the outing.
In this post, I’ll go through a few of the dishes we had that we loved and became the best things that we ate in Bangkok. Continue reading
Lamb Stew with Leafy Greens and Lemon Sauce
Instagram is great, isn’t it? I’m always inspired when scrolling through my feed. This recipe is an adaptation of one I saw from @thefeedfeed a few weeks ago – and it turned out great with some of my personal tweaks. Tender lamb and leafy greens combine with herbs and an egg-lemon sauce to bring out a Turkish style in an overall delicious dish. Continue reading
Vietnamese Spring Rolls: Fun to Make and Delicious to Eat!
We took a cooking class at the Mia Resort in Nha Trang, Vietnam on our honeymoon and the first dish we made was traditional Vietnamese spring rolls. This post is a how-to on making them, as well as how to make them as an interactive appetizer for a party. We did this recently with our friends and it was a big hit!
Southeast Asia Honeymoon: Mia Resort and Nha Trang, Vietnam
We left Nha Trang for the Mia Resort on December 30, 2014. The drive took about 30 minutes and was all along the coastline with stunning views of the mountains meeting the sea. We turned into the resort and were immediately prompted to drop our bags and go to the bar for a welcome drink…and to take in this view: Continue reading
Southeast Asia Honeymoon: Nha Trang, Vietnam
From my last post about Saigon, I wrote that I had been motion-sick and miserable on the overnight train to Nha Trang, in addition to finding the train dirty and uncomfortable. I was definitely looking forward to brighter days in this beach town – and I was not disappointed. Look at that view…brighter days, indeed! We were ready for the final leg of our trip in Nha Trang and at the nearby Mia Resort. Continue reading
