My Little Triangle Family, 2021 Edition

Harrison turned three years old in September and he’s just so cute and grown so much since last year’s family photos that we couldn’t resist making this an annual tradition. 🙂 Our friend and incredibly talented photographer Elizabeth Buergler took the photos and did an incredible job, as you’ll see in these photographs. She perfectly captured our beautiful son and I know capturing young children is not easy – it’s quite a skill! Enjoy these 2021 pics, from our family to yours. <3 Continue reading

The Baby Chronicles: Harrison at 2.5 Years

It’s been a fun and fast past six months since my last update on Harrison’s second birthday back in September. Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic has still been going on so we didn’t do any holiday parties or gatherings with friends, coworkers or even family. That part really sucked and we are so over this madness. Despite all that we tried to make the best of things and focus on what was within our control. It’s been a memorable time with Harrison as he’s developed into a curious, spirited, silly and entertaining toddler. I wanted to highlight some of his milestones at two and a half years old. My Little Triangle Family, 2020 Edition

At the end of last year we had family photos taken by our friend and super-talented photographer, Elizabeth Buergler. She also did the newborn photos of Harrison back in 2018 and I can’t recommend her enough. We knew we wanted the photos to mostly center on Harrison because he’s SO cute at this age. She captured him perfectly – while he’s very silly, it can be hard to get him to smile at times but he has lovely expressions of curiosity and inquisitiveness that I think are just as magical. We’re also thrilled to have several nice family photos in this bunch.

The Roswell location was perfect – I loved the brick buildings in the background and the early evening night to illuminate us. It being late November the trees still had some color on them and we lucked out with a fairly warm day. I hope you enjoy the photos! We’re missing our friends badly as the pandemic continues and wishing for more companionship after the highs and lows of this week with NEW senators heading to Congress from Georgia (change is good!) and the insurrection on the Capitol by Trump/Qanon supporters (a very dark day for our country). May these photos bring you a smile or two and a happy memory of us. 🙂 Continue reading

Palate Training – How to Get Your Baby to Eat Everything

Since chronicling Harrison’s foray into real foods the past 8 months, I’ve gotten many questions about Harrison’s meals and how we got him to eat so well and with such variety. Growing up, my brother was an extremely picker eater. My dad was always picky and later in life has gotten even worse. I’ve seen so many parents struggle and struggle and struggle with feeding their toddlers and kids anything but complete junk food. I knew I wanted a different way. We saw what Sean’s cousins did with their two kids – palate training – and were in awe when their nine-month old ate a vegetable curry from a market in London.

Ultimately, we had to have a plan. Our world has so much to do with food. Cooking is my hobby and passion and trying new foods is such an important experience for both me and Sean.

I was also concerned about nutrition and the addiction to sugar. It’s in EVERYTHING and 100% impossible to avoid. But I believed there had to be a way for a child to eat a variety of foods – not just the “beige foods” (bread, chicken fingers, french fries, macaroni and cheese, hotdogs, etc.) and sugar. Enter Palate Training. Continue reading

Family Vacation 2019: Pisgah Forest, North Carolina

Last year before baby was born, Sean and I went to Brevard, North Carolina for a weekend of swimming in waterfall pools, mountain views and quaint towns. We absolutely loved Brevard and Pisgah National Forest and knew we wanted to come back soon. When planning our family vacation for 2019, we decided to stay closer to home than usual and spend an entire week back in Brevard. We Airbnb’d a beautiful house right in Pisgah Forest that had sweeping mountain views but was only 10 minutes from downtown Brevard. This trip also, purposefully, coincided with Harrison’s first birthdayContinue reading

Outer Banks Vacation + Family Time 2019

Tyler and Kym (my brother and sister-in-law) bought a house on the Outer Banks last fall and we finally got to go out there to visit them and see it! It’s truly the perfect house for them, complete with a saltwater pool and gorgeous lake views, while only being a 5-minute drive to the beach. It was the perfect way to spend a 5-day Memorial Day weekend. Trust me, we did NOT want to leave. We had so much fun! Continue reading

Recipe: Chorizo, Kale and Onion Quiche

I love quiche. Sean loves quiche. Quiches are a frequent breakfast, lunch or even dinner in our house. I always make up my perfect pie crust and find that quiches are a great way to use up vegetables that need eaten or, in this case, to creatively use a yummy meat like chorizo. This is a quick and easy recipe for a family meal or to share with friends at brunch, etc. Continue reading
