It’s been a delightfully chilly winter in Atlanta this year and we’ve enjoyed getting outside to take full advantage of the brisk air. We like to find new parks (for us) and playgrounds (for Harrison). We recently discovered McDaniel Farm Park in Duluth and have loved going there on weekends. It also gives us the opportunity to try new restaurants in other parts of town. Banh Mi Cafe was our most recent post-playground lunch stop and we will definitely be back. Continue reading

New Bites: OSHA Thai Sushi Galleria
While we don’t get out for date nights as much lately, we still like to try new places when we do get the chance for a kid-free evening. I’d spent some time looking at new restaurants around Atlanta to see what would catch our eye. OSHA Thai Sushi Galleria in Brookwood, with their inventive Thai + Japanese fusion menu, fit the bill. It’s the latest feature in my New Bites series. Continue reading
The Top 13 Things I Ate in 2020
2020 kicked off as an amazing food year. From oysters in the Outer Banks to tasty specials in the Big Apple, I was all set to have many new and exciting food experiences. 2020 had other ideas. Enter: pandemic, rolling shut downs, and border closures. Despite these insane challenges, I still managed to find delicious new bites as well as concoct creative dishes at home. Now in its FOURTH year, I present to you the 2020 version of the top things I ate this year (and here are 2017, 2018, and 2019). Continue reading

This simple and fast Szechuan Shrimp has been in Sean’s family’s repertoires for years. He ate it a ton growing up and made it for us the other night. It was delicious! Get the recipe. The Top 13 Things I Ate in 2019
This is my third year doing a post about my best eats of the year and while it’s nowhere near as exotic as that first year (India, Japan, Cuba, Miami….), I’ve had plenty of intra-country travel and wonderful Atlanta dining experiences to write about for 2019. Vegetarian, Thai, Venezuelan, Japanese…it’s been a delicious year. Having a baby has not meant I have to give up one of my favorite hobbies and I’m both thankful and proud. Continue reading
New Bites: Redbird
Sean and I had a wonderful dinner and date night earlier this fall at Redbird, Zeb Stevenson’s new restaurant on the Westside in the old Bacchanalia space. We sat the kitchen bar and had a nice view of the entire restaurant and the flurry of cooking and plating activity. Continue reading
The Big Thirty-Five Birthday Celebrations
It was a big birthday for me! As the card says – 21 again! Haha. It kicked off the day before my birthday and went a full week and a half with so, so many lovely things. My husband has pretty much mastered gift giving for me. Everything was so thoughtful, well-planned and perfectly executed. I’ve got really great memories from this birthday and wanted to capture it with a blog post. 🙂 Continue reading
New Bites: Spring
In 2017, Bon Appetit magazine named Spring restaurant in Marietta, Georgia #7 of the top 10 best new restaurants in America. I knew I wanted to go but I waited awhile since I knew it would be busy. Then i got pregnant and wanted to go when I could have the full experience with wine, so I waited again. I checked a few times for Saturday reservations on, um, the Friday before and often found the place booked up. I finally planned and timed everything right – an early reservation on a Saturday that my mom was here to watch the baby. It was a surprise for Sean and I could tell he was stumped as we made our way completely across northern Metro Atlanta. Read on for all the details but I’ll start by saying I will be returning to Spring. 😉 Continue reading
