Now in year two of the pandemic, travel and the associated food experiences that come with it remain a challenge. Similarly to last year, I still managed to have an incredible year of food in spite of everything going on in the world. In some ways, the bites are savored more now because opportunities to eat out feel fleeting. In any case, it’s hard to believe that this is my fifth year writing this article! I so enjoy the trip down memory lane each December. Thank you for reading this year’s installment – if you want to read the others you can find them here: 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017.

My Little Triangle Family, 2021 Edition
Harrison turned three years old in September and he’s just so cute and grown so much since last year’s family photos that we couldn’t resist making this an annual tradition. 🙂 Our friend and incredibly talented photographer Elizabeth Buergler took the photos and did an incredible job, as you’ll see in these photographs. She perfectly captured our beautiful son and I know capturing young children is not easy – it’s quite a skill! Enjoy these 2021 pics, from our family to yours. <3 Continue reading
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico: Hot Springs, Pottery, Vineyards and an Olive Farm
Our final two days in Mexico we spent in the area surrounding San Miguel, exploring the countryside and enjoying beautiful views of the mountains.
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico: Markets, Arts & Crafts, Delicious Eats and ALL the Views
Sean’s dad picked us up from Barbara Porter’s place in Centro the morning after the Dia del Los Muertos festivities and we went to the Tuesday market and breakfast of barbacoa tacos with consume, and some shopping. This was absolutely a locals place and we loved it. Fresh produce, butchers, tortillas, clothes, kitchen items, toys – this place had it all. Great experience. Continue reading
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico: Sightseeing and Dia de los Muertos
For our first trip out of the country since we went to Japan in November of 2017, we headed south of the border to visit my in-laws in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They moved there/retired there shortly after Harrison was born in 2018 and this was our first visit to see them there – as well as my first time in Mexico. Our trip coincided with Dia de Los Muertos so we went all out and brought costumes, had our faces painted and even joined in the parade around the town square (Centro). This is the first of three posts about our time in this beautiful and historic mountain town. Continue reading
New Bites: Highland Tap (with a stop at Manuel’s Tavern)
When I moved to Atlanta in 2008, I spent a lot of time in the Virginia Highland neighborhood those first few years as a young professional on my 20s. I went to Manuel’s Tavern several times, even watched Barack Obama’s inauguration in the (extremely crowded) bar in January 2009! I love the history of this place and the entire neighborhood. I don’t get back much anymore so planned a date night for Sean and I to have a beer at Manuel’s and then dinner at the infamous Highland Tap, queuing up the restaurant for my New Bites series as it was our first time eating there! Continue reading
New Bites: Tomo
This isn’t technically a New Bites experience because we have been to Tomo before but it was a long time ago so I’m adding this in to the series. This, to me, is one of the most underrated sushi spots in Atlanta. The quality for the price is excellent and we had a great time there for dinner. Continue reading
Romantic Raleigh Getaway for our Seventh Wedding Anniversary
We spent a long weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina for our seventh anniversary this year. It had been several years since we’d been to Raleigh and we were both happy to visit again because we love this city! We explored some new places, returned to a couple of favorites and even made a surprise visit to Lindsey in Charlotte on the way home to Atlanta. Continue reading
