When we moved from Atlanta earlier this year, I knew we’d have to find a new family photographer for our annual photos. Since we were going to be in Melbourne visiting Sean’s family over Thanksgiving, which is near the time of year we normally do the photos, I thought we should expand our group to include his mom and stepdad. I’m glad we did because these photos turned out so well in spite of a very wet and gray morning. I love the ones with Harrison, Nana and JJ. There are some great ones with Sean and Harrison, too – not least because we had them taken at Sean’s childhood park (he teared up a bit when I told him we were getting the photos done at Pineapple Park <3) It’s important to me to take the time for these photographs and I always order prints to cycle into our picture frames at home. Harrison turned three years old in September and he’s just so cute and grown so much since last year’s family photos that we couldn’t resist making this an annual tradition. 🙂 Our friend and incredibly talented photographer Elizabeth Buergler took the photos and did an incredible job, as you’ll see in these photographs. I had heard the saying that once a person has children, time really accelerates and as Harrison turns three years old, I am finding that to be accurate. I can’t believe my baby boy is already three. He is an absolute joy and the light of our lives. We love being around his funny, curious, friendly and silly personality and watching him explore the world around him. I’ve captured highlights from his birthday party as well as the past six months from my last update when he turned 2 and a half.
It’s been a fun and fast past six months since my last update on Harrison’s second birthday back in September. Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic has still been going on so we didn’t do any holiday parties or gatherings with friends, coworkers or even family. That part really sucked and we are so over this madness. Despite all that we tried to make the best of things and focus on what was within our control. It’s been a memorable time with Harrison as he’s developed into a curious, spirited, silly and entertaining toddler. I wanted to highlight some of his milestones at two and a half years old. At the end of last year we had family photos taken by our friend and super-talented photographer, Elizabeth Buergler. She also did the newborn photos of Harrison back in 2018 and I can’t recommend her enough. We knew we wanted the photos to mostly center on Harrison because he’s SO cute at this age. She captured him perfectly – while he’s very silly, it can be hard to get him to smile at times but he has lovely expressions of curiosity and inquisitiveness that I think are just as magical. We’re also thrilled to have several nice family photos in this bunch.
The Roswell location was perfect – I loved the brick buildings in the background and the early evening night to illuminate us. It being late November the trees still had some color on them and we lucked out with a fairly warm day. I hope you enjoy the photos! We’re missing our friends badly as the pandemic continues and wishing for more companionship after the highs and lows of this week with NEW senators heading to Congress from Georgia (change is good!) and the insurrection on the Capitol by Trump/Qanon supporters (a very dark day for our country). This little guy had quite a birthday celebration this past weekend! I know for many, this year has been somewhat disappointing as far as kids’ birthdays go but for us it was going to be small no matter what. Sean’s mom flew in from Florida and we had our wonderful Salvadorians neighbors over – Valery is Harrison’s best friend, after all. He had an absolute blast as the center of attention, getting to eat some of his favorite foods, blow out his candles, and dig into some cake – all before tearing happily into amazing gifts from our friends and family. My beautiful baby boy is TWO years old! This past year with him has been filled with laughter, joy, fun, love…and sometimes frustration (on all sides!). In all seriousness, Harrison is a truly amazing little boy – smart, curious, sweet, thoughtful, playful and funny. Every day my heart grows with love for him and I find myself excited for all the little things. A few weeks ago, I woke up at 5am on a Saturday and couldn’t really fall back to sleep because I was so excited to take him to the park to see the turtles (his favorite).
