
For our first trip out of the country since we went to Japan in November of 2017, we headed south of the border to visit my in-laws in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They moved there/retired there shortly after Harrison was born in 2018 and this was our first visit to see them there – as well as my first time in Mexico. Our trip coincided with Dia de Los Muertos so we went all out and brought costumes, had our faces painted and even joined in the parade around the town square (Centro). Each year we spend about a week in Savannah and if you’ve been you know it’s not a very big city. That’s absolutely part of why we like it so much. Yet for a small city there is a surprising amount of diversity in the food scene and it continues to grow year after year. For our trip this year around Memorial Day weekend, we also noticed that the city itself has grown with the addition of the new Plant Riverside District along the river front. Multiple new buildings with hotels, shops, and restaurants have greatly expanded the footprint in the area. We were excited to try some of the new food spots this year as well as visit some of our longtime favorite ones.
