We headed up to Chicago in early October for the wedding of Sean’s cousin Andrew and his fiance Jessalyn. It had been a couple of years since I’d been to the Windy City and this time we stayed with a family friend north of downtown. We had a packed agenda and it was all wonderful! The “L” from the airport!
Quick stop at Revolution Brewing before our dinner reservations at Giant.
After an incredible dinner at Giant (check out my full write-up as part of my New Bites series), we stopped into a nearby bar for a nightcap and ordered Malort, not knowing it’s history with the city. The drink itself was….interesting. At least we tried it.
Next day was lunch at a Costa Rican restaurant with all the cousins and aunts and uncles and everyone’s little kiddos, then off to play Whirly Ball together. Was my first time playing and it was a blast!
Baby Ryan and Sean snuggles with Ali and Caleb cuteness in the background!
That night was our epic dinner at Next, which you can read about here.
The morning of the wedding, we made plans to go on The Untouchable tour with Rick, our family friend and we took the L into town. The tour was funny and informative – a look at Chicago’s past, key sites and neighborhoods according to its gangsters.
Then it was wedding time! So happy for these two and it was a lovely wedding and very fun reception at an Irish pub. A good time was had by all.
More family time on Sunday with a huge family brunch and then some visits to a couple of local breweries.
