My mom was originally going to come down and go wedding dress shopping with me, but I found my dress early on in the process. We decided I’d try on the dress for her to see and we could look at accessories, etc. and do some other fun activities around Atlanta during her visit.
My mom came to UPS to pick me up from work one day and I gave her a tour of the corporate campus. We took a selfie in front of the package car in the lobby. 🙂
Friday night we had a girls dinner in downtown Roswell at Trattoria Mattone, a new Italian restaurant. Noms!
Saturday we did the wedding dress fitting. My mom got a little teared up, but other than that we had a blast trying on accessories.
For lunch, we went to the Oyster Roast at Lure in Midtown. The weather couldn’t have been any better – 65 degrees and perfectly sunny.
Sean shucked all of our oysters. He’s the best! 🙂
We had made plans to make dinner at home Saturday night – pad thai, to be exact. But after a walk around midtown led to a long stop at Mi Cocina with some mambo taxis (frozen margaritas with sangria), we decided to just let the good times roll!
Sunday morning got off to a slow start and we rolled over to our friend Jeffrey’s restaurant, Common Quarter, for brunch. It was delicious, of course and we left feeling MUCH better. Hangover cured.
And a good thing, too – because I was walking a 5k in the Hunger Walk/Run downtown with my friends. The day was even more beautiful than the one before and the walk was awesome – as always. A great mix of people, good exercise and nice views of downtown keep me coming back every year for this worthy cause.
We did cook in on Sunday night and had a yummy four-course meal: shrimp cocktail, salad, filet mignon with cauliflower mash, and cakes from Cafe Intermezzo. Oh, and cava – yum.
It was a wonderful weekend with my mom and Sean was such a good sport to just let us spend lots of quality time together and be silly. All of our other time together this year will be around the wedding, so I was glad for this fun time.
