Nursery Update: 21 Weeks Pregnant

Once we found out we were having a boy, we started ordering for our nursery with a crib and bedding set. Good thing because the bedding set has been discontinued on Wayfair and I got a great deal on it! Things are now really starting to come together. My mom visited back in April and brought lots of blankets – the one in the back right was mine that she made for me as a baby. The one next to it with the purple, green and blue is for Harrison. She also brought the receiving blanket they got for my brother at the hospital when he was born and some others. Very nice! We also did some shopping and picked out a few clothes. Very sweet. (The “Where the Wild Things Are” shirt is from my mother-in-law).IMG_1073

Some of the initial art we are planning to use. We didn’t want it to be too nursery-themed but rather like a kid’s room that he will grow into – and not too much blue. IMG_1074IMG_1075

Love the crib set. Not too “boy” – almost gender-neutral and with bold patterns, shapes and animals.IMG_1077

Next step was hanging the curtains, which pick up on some of the light mustard color in the crib set. We really love the green and yellow combination and have it in other rooms in our house. Blue accents bring it together nicely for baby boy’s room.IMG_1393IMG_1396

Some of his little clothes! Some new, some gifted to us and an outfit of both Sean’s and my brother. Perfect.

Also, Sean painted the closet to match the room color. I was apathetic about this effort but he said we’d be glad we did it and he was right. It looks great.IMG_20180422_130313_651

Picked up that solid teak wood bookcase at a sale in our neighborhood for $40 (!!!) over a year ago, knowing it would eventually be great in the nursery. What a steal and it looks awesome.

We are in the process of getting my mom’s dad’s, Grandpa Emery who passed when my mom was 13, La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner refurbished for that corner with the black Ikea chair. It’s over 50 years old and is in great condition. My mom, dad, aunts, uncles, grandma all rocked me and my brother in that chair and there are so many pictures of us as babies and small kids sitting in it. It makes my heart happy to think about doing the same with Harrison. <3 (And let’s be real – they DO NOT make things as well as they used to!)IMG_1394

Crib is all made up. 🙂IMG_1395IMG_1398

Art that will go on the wall with the crib – the middle print is from our trip to Cuba and the other two I thought were so nice for a kid’s room – travel-themed, and animal with dream catcher. IMG_1400

That’s it for now. I’ll share back when we got all the art hung up and the recliner is in.
