The Baby Chronicles: Harrison Jeffrey at 9 Months

This baby! Sweet as pie, super fun, curious, growing, healthy and strong – with completely obsesses parents, au pair, grandparents and aunt and uncle! Harrison has had a big month with lots of changes, travel, new foods and new activities. He’s SO adorable and pleasant almost all the time – we can’t get enough of him. <3 Read on for all the details from his ninth month!

Big changes for month nine of Harrison’s life:

Sitting up! Like, all the time! This has been so fun to watch. It’s lead to a lot of developments in how he processes information, interactions with the things and people around him, and responds to voices and sounds. He’s doing great!

Harrison mastered the art of rolling over – now he rolls around to get places. Or scoots on his back. He’ll be crawling soon!

He’s smiling and laughing more than ever. What an incredible treat it is. He’ll be on his stomach in his crib when we go in in the morning, kicking his arms and legs, and smiling so hard at us. It is so awesome.

TEETH! Harrison cut his first teeth – the lower two – this past month. I know I’ll miss his gummy smile but these little teeth sure are cute. And he didn’t seem to ever get too fussy from it. Here’s hoping the rest come in like that. 😉

No more helmet! I was in Chicago for work when Sean called to tell me that Harrison had made so much progress that he was completely done wearing his helmet after 12 weeks. Wow! We’re so happy that it worked and that it was over relatively quickly.

I had my very first Mother’s Day. It was a day of a lot of emotions and at the end of it, I rocked my sweet boy in my arms and he fell asleep at bedtime. And I cried. I love this baby.

We visited friends all around town, and Sean even had a boys’ weekend in Atlanta and took Harrison along for part of it. So cute!

Harrison is eating all sorts of things now and new this month was: millet, red quinoa, green beans, peas with cilantro, sweet potato, beets and Cheerios. He loved the sweet potatoes, has warmed to the millet and tolerates the beets. Doing great, in my opinion.

He appears to like the color orange a lot. He seems to gravitate towards his orange toys – balls, truck with orange wheels, books with orange covers, etc. It’s been interesting to watch this develop.

We took Harrison on another trip – his third trip so far! We headed out to visit my brother and Kym on the Outer Banks for an extra long Memorial Day weekend. They adore Harrison and it was so great to see them all together. My brother did a photo shoot with Harrison in his home studio, and we took Harrison to the beach for the first time. He cried at being put in the waves but loved the sand – throwing it and eating it. 😉

We have a water baby on our hands. Harrison LOVES the pool. He was throwing himself face first into the pool at my borhter’s place. He loves to be dunked. And to splash. He’s never even let out a whine while in the pool or bathtub. It’s already so incredibly fun to swim with him. I’m so excited to see him grow as a swimmer.

The sweetest part of the month was the weeklong visit from my mom and grandma. My mom is always very helpful and engaged with Harrison – this trip was no exception. I have a truly special relationship with my grandma and it was such a treasure to spend this time with her, and have her love on Harrison. He was completely smitten with her – smiling and SHRIEKING with delight pretty much every time he saw her, and sweet reaches to touch her face. Heart melt. <3

Daniela, our wonderful au pair from Colombia, has been with us for two months and already Harrison adores her – and she him. It’s so great that he likes her so much. Having her with us has been a tremendous help for us, and is enriching Harrison’s life in so many ways.

Very thankful for an extraordinary and memorable month.
