This little guy had quite a birthday celebration this past weekend! I know for many, this year has been somewhat disappointing as far as kids’ birthdays go but for us it was going to be small no matter what. Sean’s mom flew in from Florida and we had our wonderful Salvadorians neighbors over – Valery is Harrison’s best friend, after all. He had an absolute blast as the center of attention, getting to eat some of his favorite foods, blow out his candles, and dig into some cake – all before tearing happily into amazing gifts from our friends and family. We even managed to get a group photo! Continue reading
Happy Second Birthday to Happy, Helpful & Handsome Harrison!
My beautiful baby boy is TWO years old! This past year with him has been filled with laughter, joy, fun, love…and sometimes frustration (on all sides!). In all seriousness, Harrison is a truly amazing little boy – smart, curious, sweet, thoughtful, playful and funny. Every day my heart grows with love for him and I find myself excited for all the little things. A few weeks ago, I woke up at 5am on a Saturday and couldn’t really fall back to sleep because I was so excited to take him to the park to see the turtles (his favorite). I’ve put together a little monthly recap from the past year to capture some sweet memories and show how he’s grown. Continue reading
Colorado Road Trip: Mesa Verde, Durango & Silverton
Monday morning we headed southwest from Grand Junction to Mesa Verde National Park. The drive was absolutely glorious – I had no idea the San Juan Mountains were so beautiful. And the quick changes in scenery from arid desert to forests and mountains were mind-boggling. This was a most excellent part of our vacation. Continue reading
Colorado Road Trip: Rocky Mountain National Park and Colorado National Monument
With the onset of the pandemic, our initial plans to celebrate Sean’s 40th birthday in Spain were hopelessly dashed. I was determined to make it special, though, and we started looking at a trip out West where there would be plenty of space, fewer people, and killer views. Colorado fit the bill for us and we seemed to have planned the trip at the perfect time during this first year of COVID-19 – states had just started reopening and had low numbers. (A few weeks after returning home, cases would spike again and some states imposed strict closures yet again.) Everything was open when we traveled, but nothing was crowded. This was also me and Sean’s first time away from Harrison overnight, together!! Continue reading
Time with friends is good for the soul
It had been about 7 months since me and Lindsey seen each other and decided it was time for a visit. We drove up to Fort Mill, SC at the end of June for a weekend of fun, laughs, swimming and flying drones. Continue reading
Out of isolation and into beautiful Savannah, Georgia
After more than two months of quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were really missing our families. Everything now seems to have great risk but in actuality everything was already a risk. We believe that this virus is not going away, even with a vaccine. As time passes, more treatments are available, too. For us, it’s about finding ways to live with the virus that provide us some safety to mitigate the risk. We continue to limit our trips out and are glad to see businesses reopening in Georgia this month. We decided to plan a trip to Savannah over Memorial Day weekend, and when I saw how cheap some of the huge mansions were to rent, we decided to invite both of our parents. Continue reading
Glorious Gibbs Gardens in the Spring
I’ve posted so many photos of our visits to Gibbs Gardens on my social media but not here on my blog. Time to change that. Gibbs Gardens has become a favorite day trip of ours and we have season passes. It’s an hour drive north of Atlanta in Ball Ground, Georgia and is a private garden of stunning beauty with blooms all year round. Continue reading
Fun times in New Haven, Connecticut
For Christmas 2019, Sean got me (well, planned for me) a weekend in New Haven, CT to visit our friends Beth and JR. Sean had gotten to see them on a work trip he’d had up there but I had yet to visit them after their move up north in October 2018. We planned the trip for the first weekend in March, 2020. I was hoping for snow! Continue reading
