Tyler and Kym Visit Atlanta!

During my last couple weeks of maternity leave, Tyler and Kym came to visit and meet their nephew. There was also a photography conference going on that they both attended for a few days. Having them here was SO wonderful – there’s such a special bond for kids with their aunts and uncles and these two are going to be amazing with my sweet boy as he grows. It was also very cool to see how they instantly loved Harrison. <3 We got to do a lot of fun things in Atlanta, as well as spend quality time together at home.

New Bites: Gu’s Kitchen

After a hiatus of several years, Gu’s Dumplings returned to Buford Highway, Atlanta’s ethnic food “mecca,” as Gu’s Kitchen for a focus beyond dumplings and into Szechuan street food. We tried it out for the first time in December, and went back two more times in quick succession – one of those times being for lunch on Christmas Day 2018! Safe to say we really, really love this place and are glad for this addition to so many other delicious Buford Highway spots. We’ve sampled many items off the menu – read on to see which ones we like best.  Continue reading

The Top 12 Things I Ate in 2018

2018 was a big year for me with pregnancy and welcoming our baby boy to our lives. It was decidedly NOT as big a year for food as 2017. Hard to beat India, Cuba AND Japan in one year, plus incredible dining experiences in Chicago (Next, Giant, etc.). However, I still had plenty of unique and memorable dishes thanks to regional travel, new restaurants opening in the A, and trying plenty of new recipes at home (as we do).

One trend I noticed this year was that desserts and sweet treats found their way to more prominent places on my list than usual. I suspect this had to do with my enhanced sweet tooth during pregnancy. 😉

So what was my top dish of 2018? Read on! Continue reading

Harrison’s First Christmas

It’s hard to believe we’re celebrating our first Christmas with baby Harrison already! We’ve had a blast dressing him up in numerous holiday-themed outfits, some that were hand-me-downs from friends and some that were new from the grandmas. Harrison also saw Santa, went to holiday markets, hosted a gift exchange, slept over at Auntie Krista and Uncle Greg’s house, went to a gingerbread house decorating party, and has gotten tons and tons of cuddles and kisses from our many wonderful friends. I wanted to capture and share our favorite photos from this special time – take a look and enjoy! Continue reading

New Bites: Hattie B’s Hot Chicken

After a loooooooong wait, Hattie B’s finally opened in Atlanta earlier this year. I had my first experience with Nashville Hot Chicken a few years ago in Nashville and when I heard Hattie B’s was planning to expand to the A, I stalked the updates of the project. Given my excitement and having been a couple of times already, I had to feature them on my New Bites series! Continue reading
